Motorama 1955
It's press night before the opening of the 1955 Motorama. The models are elegantly dressed in gowns of silk, tulle and taffeta. Miss Buick is being photographed in her black and white dress; her ruby necklace a perfect match to the Buick Wildcat III. Miss Cadillac, dressed in pink waits her turn to be photographed in front of the Cadillac Eldorado Brougham.
Other concept cars at the 1955 Motorama are the Chevrolet Biscayne, the Pontiac Strato Star and the Oldsmobile Delta. The first American mini van, the L'Universelle with its coral paint and cam doors is shown as a concept car. The marque LaSalle is shown for the first time since 1940 as a four door sedan and as a two door roadster.
The 50 millionth GM production car was a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop complete with gold plated trim. It takes a prominent spot next to the new 265 cu.in. Chevrolet V8.
Artist David Snyder researched old films and more than 40 photographs to make "Motorama 1955" come to life. The prints published from the original painting are limited to only 500 copies and 50 artist proofs and will be highly collected. Each print is hand signed and numbered by David Snyder. The print image measures 15" x 34" on 20" x 36" and is printed on high quality acid free stock.

Shelby LAX
It's the second week in March 1966 at Los Angeles International Airport. The Shelby prepared cars for Ford are being loaded onto the transporter, headed for Sebring. Already loaded is the Ford X-1 Roadster #1 that will win the race driven by Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby. The #2 GT40 MKII is pushed out of the hangar waiting to be loaded. Ironically Dan Gurney will push this car across the finish line at Sebring after its engine seized on the last lap while leading the race. Gurney and co-driver Jerry Grant were disqualified.
The Shelby American LAX shops were a busy place in March 1966. After moving to the hangars on 12 acres in January 1965, Carroll Shelby produced some of the most memorable cars in automotive history. In this scene we see both 289 and 427 Cobras, the Mustang GT-350 and also waiting for delivery are a few GT-350H for Hertz. The LAX facility closed in November 1967 when the production of the Shelby Mustang was moved to Michigan.
Reproduced from the original painting by automotive artist David Snyder, each of the 950 prints are signed and numbered. The 95 artist proofs are signed and numbered and co-signed by Carroll Shelby.
The image measures 15" x 34" and is printed on high quality acid free stock trimmed to 20" x 34".

Knafel Pontiac
Bill Knafel was an institution in Akron, Ohio. Knafel Pontiac showed its civic pride as a sponsor of local baseball, softball and bowling teams. It was, however, his sponsorship of drag racing that brought national acclaim. Bill Knafel first went drag racing in 1959 with a Pontiac Catalina station wagon. The first "Tin Indian" was a 1962 Catalina. His reputation grew as he won races. Bill Knafel Racing won more National and World Championships than any other Stock Class team.
This 1971 scene of the "Goodwill Used Cars" shows the lot filled with some of the best Pontiacs money could buy. The 1970 "Tin Indian" GTO Judge sits on the Transporter awaiting its fate after winning the 1970 AHRA Pro-Am with Norm Tanner driving. The painting "Knafel Pontiac" has been reproduced as a limited edition of only 950 prints plus 95 artist proofs. Each print is signed and numbered by David Snyder.

Pecan candies from Stuckey's-a popular choice to satisfy any sweet tooth in 1972. A Dairy Queen creamy soft serve hot fudge sundae is the perfect sweet spot on a warm summer evening. Best of all, everyone loved the sweet glazed "Hot Doughnuts Now" from Krispy Kreme. Eat a couple while still warm and save the rest until morning.
Satisfy the itch for ground pounding tire melting horsepower and drive your Hemi-the Challenger, the Cuda, the Roadrunner or the Charger Daytona-sweet! "Sweeeet" the newest release from artist David Snyder depicts the sweetest treats on the road in 1972. The painting has been reproduced as a limited edition print.

Tasca Cobra Jets
Bob Tasca Sr. started racing in 1962 with a lightweight 390 Galaxie. Since then this East Providence Rhode Island dealership has been a fixture on the quarter mile stage.
Always the innovator and after blowing up a lot of 390 cu. in. engines, Tasca found a way to lead the Blue Oval to win races. He bolted on a pair of old style low riser, higher breathing 427 headers to the high torque 428. Dearborn took notice and the Cobra Jet was born.
In Tasca's 1971 A-1 Used Car lot are Cobra Jet powered Mustangs and Torinos, including a few CJ powered King Of The Road Shelbys. Tasca's personal driver is a '69 Boss 429 that was reported to do runs in the 9 seconds.
Artist David Snyder pays homage to the CJ in his latest release "Tasca Cobra Jet". The painting has been reproduced as a limited edition print. "Tasca Cobra Jets" is limited to 950 prints plus 95 artist proofs. The prints and artist proofs are signed and numbered by the artist.

575 West Pike
Little remains of Yenko Chevrolet except the "super cars" Don Yenko produced. Yenko's high performance cars are some of the most collected cars on the planet. The image everyone conjures up when they hear Yenko Chevrolet is the one photograph with Don Yenko standing in front of the dealership founded by his father. The muscle car action may have ceased, but the building still stands and the fervor for Yenko is as powerful as the cars he built.
Artist David Snyder made another pilgrimage to Canonsburg to do urban archeology; sketching and studying the Yenko site. Today it is a mower/motorcycle shop, but enough remains for Snyder to envision what it must have looked like in its hayday. That visit, combined with Snyder's conversations and recollections with many former employees helped bring to life the new painting "575 West Pike" with historical accuracy.
"575 West Pike" is the latest in the series of Supercar dealerships from the brush of David Snyder. The painting has been reproduced as a limited edition of only 950 prints plus 95 artist proofs. Each print is hand signed and numbered by the artist. Each image measures 18" X 26" and is printed on high quality acid free stock measuring 22" x 28".

At 10:00 am EST April 27, 2004 we said good bye to Oldsmobile. The last Oldsmobile rolled off the assembly line in Lansing, Michigan where the first car with the Oldsmobile name plate was built in 1897. Oldsmobile was a good buy for American drivers for 107 years.
As a tribute to Oldsmobile, automotive artist David Snyder selected a few of his favorites Ð the Indianapolis 500 Official Pace car from 1970; the Hurst Olds Pace Car from 1972 and the 1968 and 1969 Hurst Oldsmobile as a part of this new painting "Good Buy Oldsmobile". The painting has been reproduced as a limited edition print. "Good Buy Oldsmobile" is limited to 950 prints plus 95 artist proofs. The prints and artist proofs are signed and numbered by the artist.

Motorama 1954
The big news for the 1954 GM Motorama was the number of concept cars. Chevrolet caught everyone's attention with the Corvette based Nomad wagon and Corvair fastback displayed next to the production Corvette.
Pontiac featured the Bonneville Special bubble top with gull wing windows. It was powered by the Pontiac straight eight with four two barrel carbs and an automatic transmission.
The Oldsmobile dream car was the sporty F-88. The most radical design was the Wildcat II, the pontoon fenders and headlights mounted on the A post made a lasting impression. It was powered by a 220 h.p. V-8 on a 100 inch wheelbase.
This new painting "Motorama 1954" shows the GM and event staff finishing the last minute details before the opening. Motorama 1953
This new print by David Snyder takes you right on the floor the night before the night before the opening of "Motorama 1953". Harley Earl gets his picture taken with the LeSabre as the last of the cars are put in place. Motorama was General Motors' automotive experience of the year. The extravaganza offers a sneek peak at the concept cars -Oldsmobile Starfire, Pontiac Parisienne and the Buick Wildcat. This automotive gala was peppered with dream cars, entertainment, high fashion and lavish decor. The big news at the 1953 Motorama is the introduction of the new production cars, the corvette, Buick Skylark, Oldsmobile Fiesta and Cadillac Eldorado. In "Motorama 1953", his most ambitious painting to date, Snyder depicts a compilation of the six Motorama venues - New York, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and Kansas City.

Fish Food
Plymouth beat Ford in the Pony Car War by just two weeks, the Barracuda was unveiled on April 1, 1964. It was the first and became the best. There were three generations of the Barracuda. The first spanned from 1965 to the end of the 1966 model year. It shared the A body platform with it's first cousin the Valiant. Nineteen sixty seven through '69 was the second generation still on the A body platform but receiving a horsepower and displacement increase. In 1968 several Hemi Barracuda Super Stocks were produced and made itself known on the dragstrips across the country. Then came 1970 and the 'Cuda was born, with the Hemi 'Cuda becoming the best of the best.

Tim's Place
This is one of those little gems you discover traveling the blue highways. A perfect dealership packed full of vintage Mopar. And not just any Mopar, each and every one, high horsepower muscle; Hemis, 440 six packs, Chargers, Challengers, Road Runners and Cudas - all nicely optioned. With the old neon sign still glowing, it was like going right back to 1971.
Was I dreaming? Is this place for real? I asked the locals eating at the Sonic about it. "Oh that's Tim's Place" they said. "Ya'll come back now, hear?"

The Enthusiast
The folks at Muscle Car Enthusiast Magazine asked me to produce an image for the magazine cover. I was asked to express the essence of the muscle car hobby. Right......in one painting A challenge but I will try.
I know what I did not want...the typical "top ten muscle cars of all time" survey. I selected the cars I would like in my stable. Definitely not something so valuable I would have to trailer it. The cars would be at the ready - ready to drive to the next Cruise In, ready for a night on the town or ready for that drive through the country on a summer day.
Editor Steve Statham helped a little, but don't blame him, this is my painting. After all, this is my garage and Steve can visit any time. So can You! Only 950 prints and 95 artist proofs will be published from the original painting.

We discovered the Silver Moon Drive-In on a recent visit to Muscle Car Enthusiast Magazine in Lakeland, Florida. It is less than a half mile east of Amos Publishing on US 92. For the next three days, Marion, my wife and business partner, and I talked about this great icon of the past. We visited "Corvettes and Classics" in Tarpon Springs, a great museum of muscle cars and memorabilia. Mike Morehead, our tour guide and long time collector of my prints, suggested I do a painting around the movie "Bullitt". A light came on, and I couldn't wait to get the painting started.
